So many people dream of an island wedding - palm trees swaying in the wind, perfect blue skies, crystal clear water crashing on the shore of the finest white sand beach that toes have the pleasure of sinking into. For Karen and Manny, this dream became a reality on their wedding day in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The gorgeous setting coupled with the tremendous love they were surrounded with on their special weekend made this destination wedding one to remember… and we couldn’t have been happier to be there for them to capture all of their moments.
We have had the pleasure of capturing weddings all over the globe, but this was our first time visiting Punta Cana. We learned quickly why it is such a popular destination to get married. The resort, Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort, where it all took place was top-notch in all aspects. The service, the food, the unlimited drinks by the pool bar - this place was amazing! It was fun to see the bride and groom having a great time along with their guests as they anticipated the big event.
The preparation of the bride took place at the resort’s spa. Karen and her beautiful bridesmaids, who all donned the cutest matching robes, had their make-up and hair done, exchanged jokes and turned a traditional process into an experience to remember. The bride was simply stunning in her splendid wedding dress!
The groom, who got ready in his suite, and his groomsmen had an equally good time. They all looked very handsome. We even caught a glimpse of Manny flying his drone to catch some cool aerial shots of the island!
The wedding ceremony was held under a beautiful gazebo overlooking the ocean. Guests found their seats and the procession began. The look on Manny’s face as he first saw his bride was priceless. Escorted by her parents, she was followed by a trio of musicians as she walked up to her groom. It was such a beautiful ceremony with so many personal touches that made it their own.
After the ceremony, we had just enough time to do formal family photos and then sneak the newlyweds away for a portrait session. Words cannot express how much fun it was to photograph Karen and Manny - their love for each other was so evident that they made it easy for us to capture their happiness in photos.
Guests were then treated to a beautiful reception where they laughed, ate and danced the night away alongside the sweet couple. Some of the more touching moments of the evening were during the toasts that provoked happy tears and joyous laughter from everyone in the room. The couple really kept the festivities true to the destination – they served authentic Dominican fare and even had a local band that kept everyone on their feet!
